Housing
Creator of life,
We pray for the resources and fortitude
To build affordable housing
So everyone has a place to call home.
We pray for housing land.
May empty buildings be creatively re-purposed
And collaborations between government and businesses
Build affordable homes on vacant lots.
We pray for congregations to generously use undeveloped property
to be land on which affordable homes can be built.
We pray for housing legislation.
May our leaders and policymakers
Create clear paths for affordable housing.
May we leverage our power in voting
To pave the way for practices that promote justice and eliminate discrimination.
We pray for unity among diverse parties
to legislate for truly affordable housing opportunities.
We pray for housing funds.
May financial gifts and government grants
Be directed wisely toward the housing crisis.
May local congregations become housing partners,
And families with safe, secure, and stable homes
Generously give for others to know the gift of place.
We pray for all in need of housing:
Lead them to opportunities and organizations,
Remove barriers and roadblocks.
Grant them perseverance in waiting,
And may we be advocates
For all to know a place as a home.
