Playgrounds
Father in Heaven,
May our playgrounds be
Places of exploration and connection,
Where both children and parents
Learn how to be good neighbors,
And where families find nearby friends.
May our playgrounds be
Where activity leads to laughter,
And the wonderful levity of play
Lightens anxious minds and settles restless bodies.
May our playgrounds be
Filled with risk and adventure,
Climbing, swinging, and sliding
To cultivate courageous little hearts.
May our playgrounds be
A refuge in every neighborhood
Places without prejudice,
Where all are included and invited.
May our playgrounds be
Outdoor sanctuaries that remind us
The rhythm of rest includes the sacredness of play
And this place to play is holy ground.
Amen.
