Running
May I run with consistency
Feeling the ground beneath me,
Hearing the sounds that surround me,
And the stillness that comes inside me,
From my body moving at Godspeed.
May I run with gratitude
For my body and my breath.
May my cadence create a joyful rhythm,
Of thankfulness for this pace and this place.
May I run with perseverance
Enduring any discomfort, discouragement, or distraction.
Grant me strength of heart, mind, and muscles
Knowing the satisfaction of expending energy and effort.
May I run with curiosity
Seeing the people and places I pass as sacred.
May the path I run by homes, shops, and schools
Be the first steps in knowing and loving those around me.
May I run with grace
If I fall or fail, miss a run or don’t make a race,
May I embrace that rhythm, not perfection, is what forms me
And whatever my pace, be an encourager to others.
May I run and not grow weary,
May I complete the race and keep the faith.
May my movement be an embodied reminder
To run and rest always in Your grace.
Amen.
